How You Display Religious Art Is Just As Important As The Art Itself

Religious art needs a tasteful display, and it's up to you to provide that. No matter how lovely a piece of art is, if you don't display it well, it can take on a tacky look. Placement, mounting, light, and cleanliness are all equal players in keeping that art looking great.

Placement

You could divide religious art into two main types -- the type of art you spotlight, and knickknacks. Knickknacks can sit in corners, peek out from behind your computer, or take up that tiny blank spot on a wall that's already full of pictures. But spotlight-type art needs its space, and it needs a tastefully open location in a room.

For those into feng shui, the northwest or northeast corners are nicest as those correspond to spiritual and helpful energies. For those not into feng shui, the actual corner in terms of compass directions might not matter, but you do need to take care. Don't place the art too close to a door; you want people coming into the room to notice the art instead of passing by it. Also, don't place the art so that it is right across from a door in a smaller room -- that looks intimidating, no matter how peaceful the artwork itself seems.

Mounting

The materials you use to display the art should be color-coordinated or be neutral -- don't grab whatever frame happens to be on sale. When hanging wall art, use a hook or nail that will hold the art roughly parallel to the wall and not push the top portion out -- that unbalanced look makes the picture seem like it's about to fall. The pushed-out top also makes the art look overbearing.

Light

For large religious paintings, track lights installed directly above the piece (the track would be on the ceiling, but it would be only a few inches from the wall with the lights angled right onto the art) provide nice emphasis. If you can't install track lighting, you may want to look at picture lights that sit on the top of the frame.

Care

All religious and spiritual art needs to be kept clean. This is as easy as running a dust cloth around a statue or occasionally wiping down the glass in a picture frame. While there are more intensive ways to clean items like paintings, you don't have to do those very often. Just keep dusting and generally cleaning so that you show the subject of the art proper respect, and so that you don't make your spiritual tributes look like something that belongs in a decrepit house in a horror movie.

You can also ask the seller of the artwork if they have any advice about what might work best. No doubt they have heard from other customers about different setups, and hearing about those might help you with your own design. For more information, contact a company like African Imports USA.

About Me
Creating A Solid Business Model

Business is never easy, but if you are like most people, you might have an idea of what you would do if you could. I started thinking about a long list of businesses that might work a few years ago, and even though it seemed like a dream at the time, I knew I had to try. Fortunately, I had people behind me that really listened to me and honestly believed in what I was doing, and so I worked with them to make things right. Within a few weeks, I had completely transformed my life, and I was impressed with the plan. Check out this blog to learn more.
