Softer surfaces like these, especially when organic in nature, provide the perfect environment for mold spores to take root and grow, which can quickly spread over the entire surface of a particular piece of furniture and ruin the finish - not to mention spreading to other nearby pieces of furniture, paper documents, or any other items which you may have in your storage unit.
